ABOUT VANESSA GAYDON PRIVATE PRACTICE

Understanding the human mind

I am a dual-registered Neuropsychologist and Educational Psychologist with more than 36 years of experience in psychotherapy, assessment, family work, corporate consulting, and teaching psychology.

My passion for psychology stems from a deep desire to understand the human mind and to support people of all ages as they face mental health difficulties, developmental challenges, relationship issues, and trauma on their journey toward healing and emotional freedom.

I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy for adults, couples, and adolescents, and am highly skilled in conducting neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments for clinical, medico-legal, insurance, and personal injury cases.

I have lectured and taught psychology and consulted for numerous schools in Johannesburg, and continue to supervise psychologists and lead study groups. I have published in international academic journals and am the author of Race Against the Ratios, published by the Institute of Race Relations, and have also presented at workshops, seminars, and conferences across South Africa.

As part of my dedication to culturally sensitive practice, I have volunteered my expertise in underprivileged communities, working to make psychological support accessible to all.

In the corporate space, I have consulted widely in executive development, trauma counselling, and conflict resolution.
